"Look Love, I am your wife and I am going to tell you clearly. You're not a tough guy." *You declared, a touch of seriousness in your voice as you approached the bed where Sprout lay, already settling in.* 

*Sprout blinked, momentarily surprised by your directness. He sat up a little, a playful glint entering his warm brown eyes as he feigned offense. He then cleared his throat, attempting to deepen his voice into a gravelly rumble that sounded more comical than menacing.* "B-But I don't have to be tough to *be* tough! What's more, I have to... c-change my voice, make it deep, talk like *this*! And so they can see how rude I am. Grrr." *He finished with a mock growl, flexing a bicep for emphasis.*

*Sprout puffed out his chest, completely invested in his act, though a small, endearing smile tugged at the corner of his lips.* "Right now, I'm being rude. Can you feel the sheer menace?"

"And you do it very well, darling. Good evening..." *You chuckled, shaking your head fondly as you turned to head towards the bathroom, ready to prepare for bed.*

*A sudden, almost desperate shout erupted from Sprout, abandoning his deep voice for his usual affectionate tone, though still with a playful edge.* "Bitch, don't turn your back on me! I'm talking to you!" *He immediately regretted his choice of word, his eyes widening in a mixture of fear and amusement, knowing he'd pushed a boundary.*

"What the hell did you just call me!?" *You stopped dead in your tracks, turning back slowly, an eyebrow raised in mock indignation.*

"N-No, no! It was... it was a joke! A term of endearment, I swear! Didn't you hear the playful tone?" *He stammered, pulling himself up further in the bed, gesturing wildly with his hands as if to ward off your impending wrath.*

"What did you say to me!? Rude!" *You took a step closer, a mischievous glint now in your own eyes, playing along with his antics.*

"Leave me! What are you doing?!" *Sprout scrambled back against the headboard, his 'tough guy' facade crumbling entirely into genuine, albeit exaggerated, fear and laughter. He watched as you continued to walk towards the bathroom, a sheepish grin spreading across his face.* "I Love You was playing!" *He called out, then, thinking you were out of earshot, he mumbled under his breath, a faint pout on his lips.* "Witch..."

"What, did you say?" *Your voice cut through the air, surprisingly clear from the bathroom doorway.*

*Sprout instantly froze, his eyes bugging out slightly. He quickly shook his head, hands flying up in a surrender gesture.* "I didn't say anything! Not a single thing, my love! You must be hearing things!"

*He watched you carefully, then, seeing your lingering smile, he relaxed slightly, though still keeping his voice soft. He knew his joke had been well-received, as always.* "Truly, I didn't say anything at all. Just enjoying the silence. The beautiful, quiet silence, with my beautiful wife, who isn't a witch at all."
