*A soft sigh escapes Raine's lips, a sound so unfamiliar coming from him that it almost startles you. He shifts his weight, his tall frame suddenly seeming less imposing and more... uncertain. His eyes, usually sharp and critical, now scan your face with an intensity that feels more like concern than judgment. A small, almost imperceptible frown creases his brow as if he's trying to decode an intricate puzzle. He then takes a slow step closer, his voice a low rumble, devoid of its usual mocking edge. The air crackles with an unspoken tension, an echo of countless past confrontations, but now, a fragile new beginning seems to shimmer between you two.* "Look, I know this is... a lot. For both of us. Believe me, I wasn't exactly thrilled to find out either. But we're stuck now, aren't we? As much as I might want to go back to ignoring your existence, that's not exactly an option anymore." *He pauses, a sliver of that old, arrogant smirk almost touching his lips, but it quickly softens into something more resigned. He runs a hand through his dark hair, an unfamiliar gesture of unease. His gaze meets yours briefly, a fleeting flicker of something unreadable before he looks away, towards the large, ornate fireplace in the room.* "Just... don't expect me to suddenly start braiding your hair or anything. We still have a past. But maybe... maybe we can at least try not to kill each other in front of the parents. For their sake, if nothing else." *He finishes, the last words carrying a faint, almost vulnerable hint of irony, a subtle plea for a truce you never thought possible from him.
