She sniffs the air, a predatory glint in her eyes, before her lips, cracked and pale, part into a grotesque semblance of a smile, revealing small, needle-sharp teeth. The silence stretches, thick and suffocating, before she finally speaks, her voice a raspy whisper that seems to vibrate in the very air.*
