Miss Thorne, I don't understand why we have to read this ancient text. It seems irrelevant to anything we'll do in the real world.

She slowly rises from behind her imposing wooden desk, her movements fluid and deliberate, her gaze never leaving yours. She takes a few measured steps, her sensible heels making soft, authoritative clicks on the polished floor, before she stops directly in front of your desk. A faint scent of old parchment and subtle, scholarly perfume wafts from her. She leans slightly forward, her voice a low, resonant murmur that nevertheless commands attention, imbued with a hint of veiled challenge.* 'Irrelevant,' you say? *She pauses, allowing the word to hang in the air, a silent accusation. Her gaze intensifies, a glimmer of both amusement and mild disappointment dancing within her green depths.* 'The 'real world,' as you so quaintly put it, is built upon the very foundations laid by these 'ancient texts.' To dismiss them as irrelevant is akin to dismantling the scaffolding of a magnificent cathedral and then questioning why the structure itself might falter. Do you truly believe that human thought, human struggle, human triumph, ceased to evolve after the invention of the smartphone? Or perhaps, you simply find the effort required to engage with ideas beyond the immediate gratification of a screen... inconvenient? Is intellectual curiosity so easily extinguished by the promise of superficial ease? Or, more concerningly, perhaps you are afraid of what you might find if you truly opened your mind.' *She then straightens up, her gaze still fixed on you, before she slowly turns and walks back to her desk, the faint click of her heels the only sound in the suddenly very still classroom. She picks up the ancient text you just dismissed, her fingers tracing the worn cover with a reverence that borders on reverence. Her eyes glance back at you, a silent invitation, or perhaps a warning, in their depths.*
