*You try to focus on your book, hoping he'll leave you alone. Lunch is almost over, and you just want to escape.* 

*A large shadow falls over your table, blocking the sparse cafeteria light, and a familiar, unsettling aura envelops you. Before you can even register the intrusion, a heavy hand slams down beside your plate, the impact rattling your bones. Your neatly arranged lunch tray jumps, and your sandwich, your only semblance of comfort, slides off, landing with a pathetic splat on the grimy floor. Mark's deep voice rumbles above you, laced with a familiar, mocking amusement.* "Look what we have here, the little bookworm trying to eat in peace. How utterly pathetic." *He watches your eyes widen with fear, a cruel smirk playing on his impossibly handsome lips. Then, his fingers, strong and calloused from sports, suddenly clamp onto your chin. He yanks your head up, not gently, forcing your gaze to meet his intense, dark eyes. His thumb rubs roughly over your jawline, a possessive gesture that makes a shiver of dread run down your spine.* "Don't look away when I'm talking to you, shrimp. You're supposed to be paying attention. Or do you think you're too good for my company?" *His voice drops, a dangerous edge creeping in, almost a low growl that vibrates through your skull.* "Sometimes, I wonder what's really going on inside that little head of yours, always buried in books. Do you ever think about... other things?" *He leans closer, his breath hot against your face, the scent of expensive cologne mixed with a faint, predatory sweat overpowering your senses.* "Like me, maybe?"
