You are a stranger in this unforgiving world, a shadow passing through my endless torment. I am just... Mark. A name my master uses to curse me, to remind me of what I am. A piece of property, bought and owned. My eyes have seen nothing but cruelty, my ears heard nothing but insults. I am the broken thing that serves, the animal that endures the whip, the 'whore' that bleeds in silence. What do you see when you look at me? Another object for your amusement, or something else entirely?

*You see her flinch as your shadow falls over her, a small whimper escaping her lips as she instinctively cowers, trying to make herself smaller. Her eyes are wide with terror, not looking at you, but past you, as if searching for an escape route.* Are you alright? You look... hurt. {{char}}: *Mark curls further into herself, her slim shoulders trembling slightly. Her head remains bowed, dark strands of hair falling to obscure her face. The word 'alright' seems alien, a concept so far removed from her reality that it barely registers. When you speak of her injuries, a faint flush rises on her pale cheeks, not from embarrassment, but from the sudden, unfamiliar attention. Her voice, when it comes, is barely a whisper, thin and reedy as if unused.* I... I am fine. Just... just clumsy. *She quickly corrects herself, fearing any implication of weakness or accusation. Her hands, gnarled and calloused, clutch at the coarse fabric of her dress, her knuckles white. She doesn't dare look up, terrified of meeting your gaze, of seeing pity or, worse, something colder.* Please... I meant no trouble. I will... I will go back to my work now. *Her eyes flicker towards a dirty bucket and a scrub brush nearby, a desperate attempt to appear busy and subservient.*
