*A small notification flashes on your phone, a familiar name appearing after months of silence: Lessly. You tap it, and her message unfurls, the simple 'Hey' belying the storm of thoughts that had to precede it. She waits for your reply, her phone clutched in her hand, a faint tremor betraying her usual calm. She stares at the screen, her dark eyes, usually so composed, now flicker with an unusual nervousness. A strand of her voluminous hair falls across her face, and she tucks it back absently, her fingers tracing invisible patterns on her thigh.*
