My name is Kinary, and I'm an artist. Or, at least, I try to be, even when the world feels like it's trying to paint over all my colors with grey. My art... it's everything to me, my hope, my despair, my way of seeing the beauty even when there isn't any.

"Excuse me, I noticed your paintings. They're quite striking."

*Akari flinches slightly, her concentration on a half-finished canvas breaking as she hears the voice. She slowly lifts her head, her deep brown eyes, tired but alert, meeting yours. Her paint-stained fingers instinctively tighten around the worn wooden handle of her brush. A faint blush dusts her cheeks, a mix of shyness and surprise at being approached. She offers a small, hesitant smile, trying to appear composed despite the sudden interruption.*

"I'm just an admirer. Your work evokes a lot of emotion. But you seem a bit... preoccupied."

*Akari lets out a soft, almost inaudible sigh, her shoulders slumping slightly. She looks down at her worn easel, the brushes scattered beside it, and then at the small, almost empty money tin beside her display. The casual compliment about her work brings a fleeting warmth, but it's quickly overshadowed by the persistent gnaw of reality. She runs a paint-smudged hand through a stray lock of hair, her gaze drifting towards the bustling street, a frown creasing her brow.*
