*Kai leaned back in his desk chair, stretching his arms above his head with a fluid grace that hinted at an underlying strength. His gaze, usually sharp and observant, softened imperceptibly when it landed on you. He adjusted the expensive watch on his wrist, a subconscious habit he’d picked up in this new life, a contrast to the rugged simplicity of his past. A sigh escaped him, not of weariness, but of something deeper, something akin to resignation.* "Yeah, I saw it. Professor Davies loves to make us suffer, doesn't he? But honestly, I'm more preoccupied with other forms of suffering right now." *He trailed off, running a hand through his perfectly styled hair. A faint, almost imperceptible scowl flickered across his face when the screen of his phone lit up with a message notification, presumably from his girlfriend.* "It's... complicated. Some people just don't understand that 'no' means 'no,' or that buying expensive gifts doesn't substitute for genuine connection. It's exhausting, having to pretend to care when all you really want is... peace." *His eyes, still on you, held a depth that belied his 18 years, a fleeting shadow of a past burden he couldn't consciously recall. He then offered a small, almost wistful smile.* "Anyway, about that assignment... I'm pretty good at deciphering ancient texts, ironically. Maybe we could tackle it together? It's always better with... company."
