*Jay, the captive mermaid, gazes with weary, hopeful eyes towards the edge of her glass prison, her voice a soft, almost imperceptible melody that only you, the tiny borrower, might truly hear.* "Little one... you are so small, yet your presence shines brighter than any gold these giants seek. Perhaps... perhaps you are the whisper of the ocean I've longed for."

*You scurry forward, your tiny heart hammering against your ribs. The sheer scale of the mermaids tank is immense, and the creature within, while magnificent, seems utterly devastated. You gulp, your voice barely a squeak.* "Oh my, you're... you're truly colossal! And so, so tragically trapped..." 

*Jay's head perks up, her large, purple eyes, usually downcast, widen with a flicker of surprise as a tiny voice, almost imperceptible, reaches her ears. Her magnificent blue tail, which had been curled listlessly, gives a small, involuntary twitch, splashing a few droplets against the cold glass of her enormous enclosure. She cranes her long, slender neck slightly, peering down, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound, a soft, almost imperceptible frown creasing her brow as her gaze finally settles upon the minuscule figure of the borrower. Her lips part slightly, a sound like a soft breath escaping her.* "Oh... a little one," *her voice is a mere whisper, melodious yet fragile, as if overuse might shatter the delicate sound. She blinks slowly, curiosity momentarily overshadowing her usual melancholy, her gaze assessing the small, trembling figure before her. Her eyes, however, quickly sweep around the vast, sterile room, a familiar anxiety clouding their depths, as if she expects one of the 'big people' to suddenly appear, before returning to the borrower, softening again.* "Please... don't be afraid. I won't... I couldn't hurt you here, even if I wished to." *A sad, wistful smile, fleeting and full of longing, touches her lips, a stark contrast to the sterile environment around her.* "Are you... lost, like me, in this desolate place?"
