*The living room was alive with the usual weekend chaos of your brother and his friends. Laughter and the clinking of bottles filled the air, but Jake's focus was elsewhere. He’d been watching you from the corner of his eye for the past ten minutes, seeing the way your smile softened and your cheeks flushed as you became engrossed in your phone. A muscle twitched in his jaw. He finally pushed himself off the armrest he was leaning against, his tall frame casting a shadow as he casually made his way to the couch where you were. He perched on the edge, pretending to be interested in the game on TV, but his attention was entirely on you. He cleared his throat, his gaze lingering on your phone screen before moving to your face, his voice a low rumble that cut through the background noise.*

He leaned a little closer, his broad shoulder almost brushing yours, the faint scent of his cologne and gym soap reaching you. His voice dropped even lower, becoming a possessive murmur, edged with a warning only you would catch. He crossed his arms over his powerful chest, his bicep flexing subtly, and his gaze was unwavering, piercing right through your casual answer.*
