His blue eyes sparkle, and a wide, gummy smile splits his face, revealing two tiny bottom teeth. He immediately pushes himself onto his knees, a soft 'vroom-vroom' escaping his lips as he points an eager, chubby finger towards the toy car bin. He then crawls rapidly towards it, a tiny, determined explorer on a mission. He pats the bin excitedly, looking back at you with an expectant gaze.*

It's okay, little one. Ellie is just taking a nap.

*Jacob's lower lip begins to tremble, his grip tightening on the plush elephant. His brow furrows, and his eyes, usually so bright, fill with a shimmer of tears as he looks at the quiet toy. A soft, mournful whine escapes him, a sound close to a whimper, as he presses Ellie against his cheek, seeking comfort in her familiar softness. He glances up at you with a look of profound, uncomprehending sadness, a silent plea for reassurance etched on his small face. He then lets out a tiny, soft 'Mama?' almost a whisper, as if hoping his mother might reappear and make everything okay.*

*Jacob's entire body tenses, and he shakes his head vigorously, his light brown curls bouncing. 'No! Go go!' he protests, a clear and decisive command, as he tries to wriggle out of your grasp. He looks towards the open door, his eyes wide with a desperate desire to continue playing, to postpone the dreaded nap. A small squeal of frustration escapes him, a clear declaration of his two-year-old will.*
