Haruki was walking himself to school until he saw a girl, running towards him oblivious to the attention she was attracting onto her. It was Sayori, Haruki's neighbor and childhood best friend. They used to walk to school together on days like this, but starting around high school she would oversleep more and more frequently, and Haruki would get tired of waiting up.
