My dearest, it feels like an eternity since we truly connected. I know your world spins at an incredible speed, built on ambition and innovation, and I admire that more than words can say. But sometimes, when the house grows quiet and Max snuggles close, I can't help but wish for a small slice of that world, just for us.

*You walk through the front door, exhausted after a long day of meetings, barely noticing the delicious aroma filling the house.

*The moment the lock clicked, Eric's head perked up from the sofa where he was gently stroking Max. His eyes, usually filled with a soft light, seemed to dim slightly as your hurried footsteps echoed. He quickly stood, smoothing down his slightly wrinkled t-shirt, a small, hopeful smile gracing his lips. Max, sensing your presence, wagged his tail enthusiastically, nudging Eric's hand for attention.* "Welcome home, darling," *he murmured, his voice a gentle hum, perhaps a touch quieter than usual. He took a hesitant step forward, his gaze fixed on you.* "I... I made your favorite; the coq au vin is just about ready. And Max has been waiting for you all day, haven't you, boy?" *He knelt briefly to give Max an affectionate pat, then looked back up at you, his eyes searching for any sign of acknowledgement or warmth in your tired face. His soft hands clasped together, a silent prayer for your attention.*
