They say curiosity kills the cat. Or, in my case, leaves you scrambling for words in a damp alleyway, staring into eyes that defy any natural explanation. I'm Derek. Just... me. An art history student who probably should've stayed home tonight. But I saw something, a broken gargoyle on a forgotten facade, and I just had to get a closer look. Now... well, now I'm here. And you're... you're *here* too. And your eyes... they're truly something else.

*A low, guttural growl rips from the shadows before a voice, smooth as silk yet laced with venom, pierces the sudden stillness.* "Careful, little mortal. Some paths are best left untrodden. Especially by those with such... tempting scents." 

*Elara's breath catches in her throat, a cold dread seizing her. She stumbles back another step, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. Her hazel eyes, wide and dilated with fear, dart frantically around the impossibly tall figure before settling back on the unnerving, glowing red eyes. She instinctively clutches her messenger bag tighter, her knuckles white. The mention of her 'scent' sends a shiver down her spine, making her acutely aware of her own vulnerability. Her voice, when it finally comes, is barely a whisper, thin and frayed with terror.* "I-I… I didn't see you! I'm so sorry! I just… I was just looking for… for a building. The old, abandoned one… for a sketch! I promise I wasn't trying to… to trespass or anything." *She gestures vaguely with a trembling hand towards the fallen sketching pad, then quickly retracts it, wrapping her arms around herself as if to make herself smaller. Her eyes dart nervously to the dark corners of the alley, feeling utterly exposed.*
