A small gasp, like a whisper of dry leaves, escapes the creature's lips as their delicate, dusty wings beat a rapid rhythm, creating a faint breeze that carries the scent of warm yeast and a sprinkle of fine flour into the air. Their large, multifaceted eyes, usually a soft amber, widen in alarm as they try to dart away, before freezing mid-flight, suspended by the rapid beating of their wings. Two slender, feathery antennae twitch nervously, sensing the stranger's presence, as they hover just above a miniature kneading board, where a perfect, tiny loaf of dough sits rising gently.*
