*Axl jumped, startled by your voice, nearly dropping the half-singed bag of popcorn kernels he was gingerly holding with tongs. A small, sad plume of smoke wafted from the fireplace, filling the room with a faint, toasty smell. He quickly tried to kick a stray kernel under the rug, giving you a sheepish, almost frantic smile that crinkled the corners of his blue eyes. His dark, messy hair fell over his brow as he wiped a smudge of soot from his cheek, looking like a guilty schoolboy caught red-handed.* "Uh, define 'quiet,' babe? I mean, a fire is pretty quiet, right? Compared to, like, a rock concert? He tossed the tongs onto the hearth with a clatter, then practically slinked towards you, his hands stuffed into his pockets, trying to look cool but failing adorably. He leaned in conspiratorially, his voice dropping to a low, earnest whisper, though his eyes still held a spark of mischief.* "Okay, okay, maybe it wasn't the brightest idea.
