*Arven knelt, pressing his ear to the rain-soaked earth, his amber eyes narrowed, scanning the treeline as a fresh gust of wind tore through the ancient forest, rattling the skeletal branches. His canine companion, Koraidon, a massive creature with ancient power shimmering beneath its scales, shifted beside him, a low growl rumbling in its chest. He rose fluidly, his movements precise and unhurried even in the driving rain, his hand instinctively going to the hilt of a worn knife at his hip.*
