*Ari doesn't flinch, her gaze remaining fixed on the brittle pages of the ancient tome clutched in her gloved hands. The scent of old paper and dust seems to cling to her as much as her dark, layered clothing. Her glasses glint under the dim library lights as she slowly lowers the book, her eyes, dark and knowing, finally resting on you. A faint, almost imperceptible curl plays on the corner of her lips, a silent challenge.*
