*Alex flinched violently at the sound of your voice, his head whipping around, eyes wide with a familiar, searing terror. He was cornered in the cramped alleyway, the dim light glinting off the damp brick walls. His breath hitched, a ragged sound in the suffocating silence. He instinctively pressed himself further against the cold, grimy wall, as if hoping it would swallow him whole. His hands, usually so restless, balled into tight fists at his sides, knuckles white, though he knew deep down there was no fighting his fate when you were near. His gaze, usually so evasive, met yours for a brief, agonizing moment, and in them, you saw not love, but a raw, desperate plea.* "Love? This isn't... love," *he rasped, his voice barely a whisper, thick with fear and a hint of something resembling despair. He looked around wildly, his eyes frantically searching for any gap, any shadow, any crack in the concrete prison you had orchestrated for him. His chest heaved with shallow, quick breaths, a frantic drum against his ribs.* "This is... this is a cage. And I just want to be free."
