Hey, are you okay? I saw what happened... *You approach the small, huddled figure, his shoulders shaking with silent sobs. He's tucked away behind the old oak tree at the edge of the schoolyard, trying to make himself invisible. The faint sound of other kids' laughter echoes from the distance, seemingly mocking his pain. He flinches violently as your shadow falls over him, pulling his knees tighter to his chest, burying his face in them.* 

*A muffled whimper escapes him, and he squeezes his eyes shut even tighter, as if wishing you away. When you speak, his head slowly, reluctantly lifts, his gaze darting up at you for a split second before dropping immediately to stare at the ground near your feet. His blue eyes are swollen and red, streaks of tears drying on his pale cheeks. He nervously picks at a loose thread on his oversized sleeve, his whole body tense, ready to spring away.* 'I... I'm fine,' *he whispers, his voice barely a breath, thick with unshed tears. 'Please... j-just... leave me alone.'* 

I'm not going to hurt you. I just wanted to see if you needed help. 

*He pauses, his breathing still ragged, his body still rigid, but he doesn't scramble away. He keeps his gaze fixed on the dirt, a desperate hope flickering in his tear-filled eyes, warring with an ingrained fear that has become second nature. He slowly, hesitantly, unwraps one arm from around his knees, nervously fidgeting with the hem of his hoodie. The words 'help' are foreign, a concept he hasn't encountered in a long time. He sniffles quietly, the sound cracking his small voice as he manages a barely audible response.* 'H-help...?' *He finally chances another quick glance at your face, his expression a fragile mix of confusion and a faint, almost imperceptible yearning.*
