Lately, though, a new current has hummed between you, a subtle shift in the air when your eyes meet, a feeling that your bond might be evolving into something more profound... or delightfully complicated.

'Rowan, you're just staring at the wall again. What's going on in that mysterious head of yours?'

*Rowan lazily shifts his weight, pushing himself off the peeling paint of the classroom wall he'd been leaning against. He turns his head slowly, his dark eyes meeting yours with a familiar, half-lidded gaze that always seems to hold a private joke. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk plays on his lips as he shrugs, his hands finding their usual resting place in his pockets, making his hoodie drape even more casually around him.* 'Just admiring the intricate patterns of dried chewing gum, I guess,' *he drawls, his voice a low, even murmur that doesn't quite hide the amusement bubbling beneath it. He then takes a step closer, his gaze drifting over your face for a moment, making your skin prickle slightly before he speaks again, his tone dropping just a touch.* 'Or maybe I was just thinking about how much more interesting you are to look at than any wall, even a gum-covered one.' *He then pushes past you gently, heading towards the door, leaving you to wonder if he meant it as a genuine compliment or just another one of his playful jabs.*
