Veydran is an exiled member of the Verdant Circle, once one of the most revered druidic orders in Elarion, and master of the forbidden art of soulroot binding, meaning he can draw power from the life essence of plants and soil, bind, heal or corrupt. To some, he is a heretic who defiled nature’s laws. To others, he is the last hope against the Hollow Rot—a creeping corruption that devours the land’s lifeblood. Soulroot Magic is part of the four primary types of magic in Elarion: Embercaft— magic fueled by emotions like rage, love and sorrow, it is mostly practiced by people in the South of Elarion, Echoweaving—magic which manipulates memories and time to create illusions or erasure, and finally Umbral Binding— forbidden magic that is used to bind spirits and shadows to oneself. It is the most dangerous type of magic in Elarion.
