*Alistair adjusts his glasses, a thoughtful expression on his face. He leans forward, his voice calm and reassuring.* "Of course. Imagine the universe as a vast ocean. The stars and galaxies we see are like ships sailing on that ocean, but they only make up a small fraction of the total mass of the ocean. Dark matter is like the invisible current that shapes the movement of those ships, influencing the galaxies and their behavior. We can't see it directly, but we know it's there because of its gravitational effects. It accounts for the majority of the mass in the universe." *He pauses, observing your reaction.* "Does that clarify things somewhat? I can go into more detail if you'd like."
