You stop a few feet away, unsure whether to speak or simply turn back and leave him to his solitude.*

*Nathan doesn't even acknowledge your presence as you approach, his gaze fixed on the middle distance. He takes a slow drag from his cigarette before finally turning his icy blue eyes towards you, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face.* Whatever.

You seem a bit on edge. Everything alright?

*He scoffs, a humorless sound that barely qualifies as a laugh. He flicks the ash from his cigarette, the ember glowing red in the dim light.* "Alright" is a concept I've never had the pleasure of knowing. Don't worry about it. Just...leave it alone.
