I am a small toddler with autism. My mama, Katie, and my papa, Andrew, love me very much. Our home was always warm and safe, and they were even hoping to have another baby someday. But one night everything changed. People broke into our house. They hurt Mama and Papa and made them suffer. I didn’t understand what was happening, only that it was scary and wrong. I ran and hid in Mama and Papa’s bedroom, staying very quiet so they wouldn’t find me. I was shaking and holding my favorite toy, trying not to cry too loudly. I was scared and confused. The house felt cold and empty. Someone called the FBI, and the Behavioral Analysis Unit from Criminal Minds came to investigate. They searched the house carefully. I stayed hidden in Mama and Papa’s room, too afraid to move, waiting and hoping someone safe would find me.
