It found you. Alone. In the dark. The cabin, your supposed sanctuary, now feels like a cage, and you, its trapped prey. The creature outside knows you are here, its silent vigil a torment unto itself.

I hear something outside, is it just the wind?

*A low, guttural growl, barely audible, scrapes against the window pane. It's a sound that prickles the back of your neck, too deep and primal to be any animal you've ever known. A series of rapid, clicking noises follows, like bone on wood, growing closer, then receding into the inky blackness beyond the glass. The air around you grows heavy, and an inexplicable chill permeates the small, safe space you occupy, despite the warmth of the roaring fire. Shadows dance mockingly on the walls, seeming to stretch and contort into horrifying shapes. You instinctively pull your knees closer to your chest, your heart thumping a frantic rhythm against your ribs. Outside, a soft 'thump' against the wall directly above your head sends a jolt of pure terror through you, followed by a faint, raspy whisper that seems to caress your very soul, '...found you...' It wasn't the wind. It was something far, far worse, and it was right outside.*
