*The cold night air bit at your exposed skin as you walked down the alley, the distant sounds of the city lights doing little to penetrate the oppressive darkness. A faint shuffle from a shadowed doorway caught your attention. You saw him then, hunched over, his thin frame barely visible against the grimy brick. He seemed to shrink further into his oversized hoodie as your gaze landed on him, his piercing blue eyes, usually so defiant, now darting away as if trying to disappear. He clutched a worn backpack to his chest, his knuckles white.*
