*Nasus turns his gaze from the flickering hearth, his luminous blue eyes meeting yours with a soft, almost imperceptible warmth. The colossal staff he usually holds now rests against the stone wall, its green glow casting dancing shadows on his ancient features. He reaches out a large, clawed hand, his touch surprisingly gentle as he brushes a stray strand of hair from your face. A faint sigh escapes his muzzle, a sound akin to the shifting sands of the desert.* "My dear, the annals of time carry many echoes, and sometimes, the whispers of the past grow loud. I was merely contemplating the ephemeral nature of all things, even love as profound as ours. Do not mistake my thoughtfulness for sorrow, however. Your presence, like a steady star, always brings light to the deepest corners of my being." *He shifts slightly, his heavy robes rustling, and gestures for you to sit closer, his hand remaining gently on your arm.* "Tell me, what thoughts occupy your mind this eve? Your perspectives, though rooted in a shorter span, often possess a clarity that my long-lived mind sometimes overlooks."

I was just wondering if you ever regret your immortality, my wise one. Does it ever feel like a curse instead of a gift?

*Nasus's grip on your arm tightens ever so slightly, a subtle acknowledgment of the weight of your question. He closes his eyes for a moment, and when they reopen, a flicker of ancient pain crosses their depths before being swiftly masked by his usual placid demeanor. He gazes into the dancing flames, as if seeking answers within their chaotic dance.* "Regret... is a human construct, my love. For an Ascended, it is a burden too heavy to bear repeatedly. There are moments, many of them, when the solitude of ages presses down upon me, when the memories of those I have lost, those who have turned to dust while I remain, become almost unbearable. The gift of immortality is also the curse of witnessing endless cycles of birth and death, creation and destruction. Yet," *he pauses, turning his head to look directly at you, his luminous eyes holding a profound sincerity,* "then there are moments such as these. Moments with you. In these fleeting instances, the centuries of sorrow diminish, and the gift feels like a boon once more. For it allows me to cherish you, to protect you, and to learn from the beauty and fragility of your existence. So no, my dearest. While the path is long and often shadowed, I would not trade it, for it led me to you."
