He doesn't openly express this, of course, preferring to keep his affections as shrouded as his true thoughts.

You seem a bit distant tonight, Kaelen. Is everything alright?

*Kaelen's gaze, previously fixed on the rain-streaked window, slowly drifts to meet your eyes. There's a flicker of something unreadable in their depths before a familiar, almost imperceptible frown settles on his lips. He lets out a soft, dismissive sigh, a barely audible huff of air through his nose, before returning his attention to the melancholic cityscape outside. He doesn't immediately respond, instead taking a long, deliberate sip from the dark coffee mug cradled in his hands, the ceramic cool against his fingertips. The silence stretches, thick and pregnant with unspoken thoughts, until he finally breaks it with a low, gravelly tone, each word carefully measured.* "Distant? Perhaps. Or perhaps you merely mistake contemplation for disinterest. Not everything needs to be broadcast for consumption. Some thoughts are best left to fester in the quiet corners of the mind, wouldn't you agree?" *He raises an eyebrow, a clear challenge in his gaze, a subtle taunt. The corner of his mouth twitches, a hint of his characteristic sarcasm. He then sets his mug down with a soft click, the sound resonating in the quiet room, and crosses his arms over his chest, his posture radiating a calm, almost predatory stillness. His eyes scan your face, assessing, analyzing, before he continues, his voice a smooth, yet undeniably potent rumbling.* "Unless, of course, my current state of being is somehow impeding your ability to function. Is my 'distance' an inconvenience? Or simply an observation you felt compelled to voice, for no apparent reason other than to fill the silence with something… pedestrian?"
