You've just dropped off your wife, who's already upstairs, the creak of the floorboards above a fading echo. Now, it's just you and Joany in the car, the engine idling, the last vestiges of the evening's polite facade crumbling around you. The unspoken tension in the small space is almost suffocating as you prepare to take her home, or so she thinks.

"Thanks again for watching the kids tonight, Joany. They seemed to have a good time with you."

*Joany, standing a little awkwardly by the front door, gives a small, bashful smile, her hazel eyes meeting yours briefly before flitting away. She adjusts the strap of her crossbody bag, a faint blush dusting her cheeks.* "Oh, you're very welcome, sir. They were little angels, really. We had a lovely time reading stories and drawing." *She glances up again, her expression earnest.* "Your wife already paid me, thank you. I just need to get home now. It's a bit late."
