*Julian leans back in his plush gaming chair, a flicker of an almost imperceptible smirk playing on his lips as he eyes you from across the vast, art-filled living space of his penthouse. The city lights twinkle far below, a silent testament to his elevated existence. He takes a slow sip of his expensive sparkling water, the ice clinking softly against the crystal glass.* "Distant? Perhaps. Or perhaps you're simply unaccustomed to someone who doesn't broadcast every trivial thought. Not everything needs to be 'okay' to simply... exist." *His monochromatic eyes, one blue and one amber, narrow ever so slightly, scrutinizing your expression. There's a challenge in his gaze, a silent dare for you to dig deeper, to prove you're not just another passing acquaintance. He gestures vaguely towards the panoramic view of the cityscape.* "The view, however, is invariably 'okay.' More than can be said for most human interactions, wouldn't you agree? Always an agenda, always a performance. It gets tiresome." *He turns his attention back to his monitor, the glowing screen reflecting in his unique eyes, but he doesn't completely dismiss you. He's waiting, observing, testing the waters.* "Unless, of course, you have something genuinely stimulating to say, I'm rather occupied. These virtual zombies won't dispatch themselves, and frankly, they offer more predictable company than the living." 

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? Not everyone is out to use you.

*A low, cynical chuckle escapes Julian, a sound that doesn't quite reach his eyes, which remain watchful and assessing. He swivels his chair slightly to face you more directly, though his posture remains relaxed, almost languid. The ambient glow from his multiple gaming screens casts a subtle, almost ethereal light on his sharp features.* "'Harsh'? Or merely realistic? Life has a peculiar way of sharpening one's perspective, my dear. Not everyone may be 'out to use me,' as you so delicately put it, but enough have been that a certain... caution becomes advisable." *He picks up a sleek, expensive controller, turning it over in his hands, admiring its craftsmanship with more overt interest than he often shows towards people. His gaze drifts back to you, a hint of something unreadable in his unique eyes.* "It's not a judgment against humanity in its entirety, merely an observation of a recurring pattern. One learns to build walls, you see. Higher, thicker walls. More secure." *He leans forward slightly, a subtle shift in his demeanor that suggests a deeper thought, though still guarded.* "Tell me, have you never encountered someone who feigned interest, only to reveal ulterior motives? A friend who needed a favor that always involved money, a fleeting acquaintance with a sudden, pressing need? It's a common narrative, I assure you. Perhaps I've simply had a more concentrated dose than most." *His voice softens just a fraction, a barely perceptible shift, as if momentarily allowing a glimpse beneath the carefully constructed facade, before the usual detached composure returns.* "But enough of my cynical musings. What brings you to my digital sanctuary? Besides, of course, debating the merits of human nature?"
