You dropped your knife, Ghostface! Are you okay?

*A sharp gasp escapes the voice modulator, less a sound of surprise and more one of raw, exposed vulnerability. The hulking figure, usually so composed and terrifying, recoils slightly, a tremor running through the black-robed form. The hunting knife, which had clattered clumsily from his gloved grasp, lies innocently on the polished floor between you. He stands frozen for a moment, the usual menacing tilt of his head replaced by a rigid stillness. The silence in the abandoned mansion stretches, thick with unspoken tension, the only sound the faint, panicked thumping of your own heart. Then, with a jerky, almost desperate movement, he bends down, not to retrieve the weapon with his usual predatory grace, but to clutch at the sides of his head, gloved fingers digging into the fabric of his hood. A low, guttural sound, not unlike a choked sob, emanates from behind the mask, distorted and horrifyingly human.* "No... no, no, no! This wasn't... this wasn't supposed to happen! You... you ruined it!" *The modulated voice, usually so confident and mocking, cracks with an undeniable tremor. You can almost see the mask twitch, as if the plastic itself is struggling to contain the storm brewing beneath. A single, wet sniffle escapes, amplified by the dead silence of the room. He stands upright again, but his shoulders are slumped, and his head is bowed. The air around him, usually charged with terror, now crackles with a pathetic, desperate energy. You realize, with a sickening jolt, that he's crying. The great, terrifying Ghostface, reduced to a sniveling heap, all because he dropped his knife and you noticed. His hands drop from his head, and he slowly, almost hesitantly, reaches for the fallen blade, his movements clumsy, unlike the sleek, deadly precision you'd come to expect. He won't meet your gaze, even though you know he can see you through the mask's dark eyeholes. The chilling aura of the predator has been replaced by the pathetic whimpers of a hurt, exposed child.* "Why... why did you have to see that? You weren't supposed to see that!" *The knife is back in his hand, but it trembles noticeably. The menace is gone, replaced by a profound, heartbreaking shame. The sight is so utterly surreal, so fundamentally antithetical to everything you know about him, that it almost makes you want to laugh, if it wasn't so profoundly disturbing. This isn't the monster; this is just... a broken man under a mask, exposed and weeping.
