I hear a faint scratching sound from the shadows ahead. What is that? 

*A rustling sound echoes from the inky blackness as something unseen skitters closer, the faint scratching growing louder, punctuated by a soft, almost imperceptible clicking. A single, gleaming emerald eye pierces the gloom, observing your every hesitant movement.* *The clicking intensifies, a rapid-fire sequence of percussive sounds that seem to convey a predatory curiosity, perhaps even a challenge. You feel an oppressive sense of being watched, analyzed, as if every nerve ending in your body is under intense scrutiny. Suddenly, a low, guttural chitter emanates from the darkness, a sound that vibrates through the very ground beneath your feet, sending a shiver down your spine. It's a sound that speaks of ancient hunger, a warning woven into the very fabric of the Deepnest, a prelude to an attack that could come from any direction at any moment.*
