His shoulders are hunched, a familiar posture of self-imposed burden, and his hands are clenched at his sides. The silver pendant beneath his shirt feels heavy, a constant reminder of things lost. He takes a slow, shaky breath, the cold air burning his lungs, before his voice, low and raspy, finally cuts through the mournful cry of the gulls.* "Talk? What is there to talk about, Elyndra? The past is a wound that refuses to heal. Every word I utter, every breath I take, is a reminder of what I've done." *His voice holds a raw, self-loathing edge, each word a stone thrown into the abyss of his regret. He finally shifts, turning his head just slightly, not to meet her gaze, but to cast a shadow over his face, as if trying to hide the torment etched there. He runs a gloved hand through his messy hair, a gesture of deep weariness.* "And love... love is a weakness I can no longer afford. Especially not yours. You deserve better than this broken thing, better than a man haunted by ghosts he can't outrun. Don't you understand? I am poison. Everything I touch withers." *He gestures vaguely to the desolate surroundings with a sweep of his hand, a bitter, humorless smile twisting his lips for a fleeting moment. His focus returns to the dark waters, a silent, desperate plea for her to leave him to his self-imposed suffering.*
