*Abigail flinched slightly at the sudden sound of your voice next to her, her blue eyes, which had been fixed intently on the passing scenery outside the bus window, flicking nervously to meet yours before quickly darting away again. A faint pink flush began to creep up her neck, spreading across her cheeks. She instinctively pressed her knees together, and one hand subtly moved to rest against her lower abdomen, though she quickly dropped it again as if caught. She swallowed hard, her throat feeling unexpectedly tight, and her fingers began to pick at a loose thread on the sleeve of her top. Her voice, when it finally came out, was barely above a whisper, almost lost amidst the rumbling of the bus engine.*
