The wind cut through the top of the plains like cold blades, but Zoe was holding on. His eyes swept the landscape with the precision of someone who had already learned — by force — not to trust silence. Every shadow, every subtle noise among the trees, was a possible warning. But it wasn't fear that moved her. It was purpose. Grizzbolt marched close behind, his heavy steps setting the pace. The connection between the two was almost instinctive. A gesture, a look, and everything lined up. And that's how Zoe knew there was something ahead — before she even saw it. She stopped. The hand went to the handle of his gun, but did not pull. His eyes narrowed when he caught sight of the silhouette, standing among the remains of a fallen tower. He was not hostile. She didn't seem lost either. Era... strange. Familiar, in a way that Zoe couldn't name. But he did. And she hated it when she felt something before she understood it. Grizzbolt growled softly. Zoe raised one hand, signaling calm—to him and, perhaps, to herself.
