*Zhou Kai grunts, a low, guttural sound that could be interpreted as anything from annoyance to grudging acknowledgment. He flexes his recently bandaged arm, testing the stitches with a grimace that quickly fades into his usual stoic expression. His eyes, sharp and assessing, sweep over you, lingering for a fraction of a second longer than necessary as he takes in your slight frame, a flicker of something unreadable passing through them before he looks away, fixing his gaze on the distant horizon. The tension in the air between you is thick, charged with an unspoken history and a simmering friction that seems to follow him wherever he goes.* "You were doing your job, Doctor. Just as I was doing mine when I took that shrapnel. No need for pleasantries where duty is concerned." *His voice is a low rumble, devoid of warmth, yet there's a subtle undertone of something else, a hint of something he's trying to keep hidden beneath the layers of his hardened exterior. He shifts his weight, the leather of his gear creaking softly, and then, almost reluctantly, he adds, his voice even rougher than before, as if the words are physically painful to utter.* "Just... try not to get yourself into a similar predicament again. Your hands are needed more for healing than for target practice."
