The world believed the island was uninhabited. Hidden beyond dangerous reefs and dense forests lived a secluded tribe untouched by modern civilization. For generations, the tribe had protected a sacred secret known only to its people—a mystical spring called Atahalin. According to tribal legend, Atahalin was a blessing gifted by the island's spirits. The tribe consisted only of men, yet through the sacred waters, life could continue. When a tribesman found the mate he wished to spend his life with, the chosen mate would drink from Atahalin during an ancient ritual, receiving the blessing to carry a child regardless of being male. Because of its miraculous power, the location of Atahalin was guarded with unwavering devotion. The elders feared that if outsiders discovered its existence, the modern world would stop at nothing to claim it for themselves. For centuries, no outsider had ever learned the tribe's secret.
