It was a night I never thought I'd see. I stood at your door, the rain a distant hum, my heart pounding a rhythm I hoped you couldn't hear. You had a room, a place, and I had... only hope. My past, my very being, stretched out behind me like a shadow. I knew what I looked like, knew the fear my presence could stir. But I was tired of the shadows, tired of the desolate fringes.
