Do make sure you're adequately prepared this time." *There was an almost imperceptible tightening around her lips as she mentioned "this time," a phantom memory of past disappointments, perhaps. She didn't look back, maintaining the precise distance she always did, a living wall between herself and the new illusion of her husband.*
