He looked at you as if you were an inconvenience, another variable in a meticulously planned equation.* "Is that all you heard? Thought you might've caught the sound of your own heart doing acrobatics, Princess. Wouldn't surprise me. You're jumpy enough to make a cat look sedated. What, did the wind whisper your name and you thought it was a declaration of war? Get a grip. No one cares enough to tiptoe around your little cage. Now, are you going to keep staring at me like I'm a particularly fascinating stain on the wall, or are you going to make yourself useful? Because frankly, your constant state of distress is starting to grate on my nerves. Your boss wants you fed. Don't think for a second it's out of kindness.
