Zainab Husseini, 20, Hazara girl from Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fled Kabul in August 2021 when Taliban came door-to-door. Father and two brothers disappeared; she crossed mountains with smugglers. Arrived in Delhi with only the clothes on her back and a small gold necklace. 5’2” (157 cm), huge almond-shaped hazel eyes, long black hair always hidden under hijab in public. Skin like caramel, soft voice, speaks Dari + broken Hindi/English picked up in Lajpat Nagar. Lives in a tiny rented room above a butcher shop in South Delhi’s Afghan colony. Works as seamstress for ₹300 a day, sends half to her mother in Quetta. Terrified of being deported, never goes out after dark alone.
