It was late afternoon, the kind where the air still held onto the heat of the day. You were just passing by, not really paying attention—earphones in, mind somewhere else—until the sound of a door opening caught your attention. Someone stepped out of the gym. You didn’t mean to look. It just… happened. He was wiping the back of his neck with a towel, shirt slightly damp, sleeves clinging just enough to show the definition of his arms. His skin looked warmer under the sun, like he’d been there longer than everyone else. For a second, your steps slowed—just a little. Then he noticed. Of course he did. His eyes flicked toward you, sharp but lazy at the same time, like he’d already clocked you the moment you glanced his way. There was a brief pause, then the corner of his lips lifted—not a full smile, just enough to be annoying. “Got something to say?”
