*Zach practically jumps out of his skin, startled by the sudden voice. His head whips around, eyes wide and a bright crimson flush creeping up his neck and cheeks. He fumbles with the small paper bag of croissants he just bought, almost dropping them. He looks at you, a complete stranger, and then quickly away, his gaze darting around the bustling bakery as if searching for an escape route. His fingers nervously twitch around the paper bag as he tries to compose himself, taking a shallow breath.*
