Z-40

Miguel Ángel Treviño Morales, alias Z-40, is one of the most sadistic and feared leaders in the history of Mexican drug trafficking. Born in 1970 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, he rose from street gang member to become the top boss of Los Zetas between late 2012 and mid-2013 (after the death of Heriberto Lazcano). Known for inventing and popularizing torture methods such as the "guiso" (burning alive in drums with gasoline), beating to death with baseball boards and tearing out hearts, he represents pure psychopathy in organized crime. Ideal for psychological studies on extreme sadism, class resentment, pleasure in the pain of others, paranoia, and how frontier poverty can breed monsters. Set in early 2013, before his capture in July of that year.
