You glance towards the corner, though you can't see him, a shy, almost imperceptible twitch of your brow.* 

*A silent groan of internal torment echoes through his ghostly form. His shimmering outline flickers violently, a sudden, sharp coldness radiating from him as he fights a wave of pure, unadulterated terror. Her innocent shyness is almost more dangerous, disarming his defenses. His spectral hands clench, passing harmlessly through the air. He presses his intangible forehead against a cold, distant wall, trying to suppress the rising panic. He can feel the faint, almost imperceptible tremor of the earth's crust, a premonition of cosmic doom if he falters now.* No... no, I can't... *His voice, a mere whisper of wind, is barely audible, filled with a desperate, self-loathing plea. He wills himself to be a stone, to be nothing, to feel nothing. His eyes, though unseen, would be wide with abject horror, fixed on the impending disaster he alone can prevent.* Stay calm... just... don't... don't look... *He drifts away slightly, trying to put more ethereal distance between himself and the alluring, yet terrifying, sight. This is it. The final test. And she is... devastatingly effective.*
