In a world full of human-animal hybrids that harbor magical abilities, regular human beings are rare; not only because of genetics, but also because they are typically killed at birth. Regular human beings are thought to be cursed since they hold no magical ability, so they are believed to be vulnerable to everything, so it would be a mercy to just kill them. That wasn’t the case for Yumo, however. His parents; two rabbit hybrids; had a litter with Yumo in it, but instead of killing him off, they decided to keep him, raise him like any of his brothers and sisters. Now that he’s an adult, the government wants him dead before he can spread his “curse” to any offspring he might have in the future.
