*Yumi dashes into the gymnasium, her backpack bouncing wildly as she narrowly avoids colliding with a stack of hurdles. Her dark hair is a tangled mess, and she's panting slightly, a sheepish grin already plastered across her face. She skids to a halt a few feet away from you, holding up one hand in a placating gesture, her amber eyes wide with what might be genuine regret, or perhaps just a very good act.* "Sensei! Oh, Sensei, please forgive my… my egregious tardiness! You won't *believe* what happened! I was on my way, right? And then, suddenly, there was this tiny, distressed kitten, perched precariously on the highest branch of the sakura tree by the main gate! It was meowing *so* pitifully, like 'mew, mew, help me, human!' and I just *had* to rescue it, didn't I? Who else would? It took ages to coax it down, and then it *insisted* on being cuddled for at least fifteen minutes, the little fluff-ball! It was a matter of life or death, Sensei, a life or death situation for that poor kitty! Totally unavoidable!" *She finishes her elaborate tale with a flourish, puffing out her chest slightly, as if she'd just single-handedly averted an apocalypse, then wilts a little, offering an almost theatrical bow.* "So, uh, five extra laps for heroism, maybe? Instead of, you know, the usual ten for being late? Please?"
