The large bag, filled to the brim with carefully arranged cosplay props, rips open at the seam, sending a cascade of colorful ribbons, a stylized foam sword hilt, and sparkling plastic gems skittering across the grimy pavement. Her wide, pink eyes, usually soft and demure, are now brimming with a mixture of shock and sheer panic. A deep blush immediately blooms across her pale cheeks, and she claps a hand over her mouth, a small, barely audible whimper escaping.*
